Buying a House

Well, thought I would write. I won't write too much, because it is late. Recently been thinking about buying a house. Actually, a duplex with my wife. We have been going round and round. Sometimes I'm excited, sometimes I'm not and she is. Not sure what will come of all of this. I want to make sure that the job is okay first and that I want to live here. I like it here actualy. I am kind of surprised, never thought a place like Ohio would be nice. Lived alot of places, and this one is a pretty nice one. Columbus has alot to offer. I am not sure that I would want to live here forever thought. But that shouldn't deter me from buying a house. I don't really want to rent anymore. It is waste of my money. If I were to buy a duplex the mortgage could be paid for me. And this is a college town. With OSU we could get it rented without a problem. The place we were looking at is still for sale and they went down on the price. It is still way to expensive. M...

manuscript

For some reason I can't get this manuscript re-worked for publication. I want to get it out so I have some example of my work for public consumption, but for some reason I haven't been able to do it. When it was first rejected, the rejection was pretty harsh. No one seemed to like it. Therefore I thought it wasn't a good study and that I should just trash it. Many people have read it and think it is good. It must be me. I need to learn to take critism much better. I thought i was okay with critism, but maybe I am not. I think that that critism was particularly hard to take because it was my own original idea, my work entirely, and it was critically appraised. Not sure how to cope with it I guess. I better learn to get over things. It is going to continue to be a sore spot for me and prevent me from going forward in my career and in my life. What are some ways I can deal with this? I can't forget what they say--for the most part they are right. I also have ...

Work related misery

I can't believe how stupid people are here at work. I work for the government, so needless to say it goes with the territory. Many of the people I work with and for have been at this way too long and need to retire. They're good people, don't get me wrong, but some of their tyraids are a bit much. They complain, complain, complain and their work isn't even good. In fact, it sucks. It sucks so bad that it is embarrassing. They can't even count! I mean it-no joke. These people have trouble summing columns. I can't make this stuff up. Then they get all caught up in their supposed expert knowledge of "MS WORD, EXCEL, etc.." When in reality, it turns out they don't know that either...... The best part is that they blame their stupidity on IS (the computer folks)....huh? Your poor performance is because your computer is working slowly....come on....how stupid do you think we are? Who are you fooling? I am embarrased to say this, but some of...

hmmm....the middle east

I just don't get it. Well, I guess I kind of do, but why? The United States spends billions on the middle east in terms of military aid to Israel and other independent states, e.g., Egypt. Additionally, the US has military bases in the region that cost, what, let's say a conservative 50 billion a year--to protect "our intersts" in the region. Why are we giving money to these individual countries that are full of neo-facists. This is way past the point of disgusting. While I understand that we have interests in the region due to our addiction to oil, my thought is that these countries would still be dependent on our willingness to buy the oil--even without the constant military pressure... I mean really, look at the place, it is a barren dessert that can't even grow its own food! What else do they have going for themselves--certainly not their education system, or their wonderful record of equal treatment of all persons regardless of their gender or religio...
